What is the problem you're trying to solve?

What problem are you trying to solve by doing this project? This problem should be small enough that you expect it to be completely or mostly resolved by the end of this project. Remember to review the tutorial for tips on how to answer this question.

(IT) In Italia, non tutte le scuole hanno a disposizione una connessione internet stabile ma nella maggioranza dei casi hanno a disposizione un computer (anche se molto datato, spesso anche con sistemi operativi liberi). Vogliamo distribuire questi DVD per consentire a TUTTE le scuole di usufruire della conoscenza libera messa a disposizione dai progetti Wikimedia Foundation (tra cui Wikipedia).

(EN) In Italy, not all schools have a stable internet connection but in the majority of cases they have a computer (although very old, often with free operating systems). We want to distribute these DVDs to allow ALL schools to take advantage of the free knowledge provided by the Wikimedia Foundation projects (including Wikipedia).

(IT) La soluzione a questo problema è, appunto, la distribuzione di DVD contenenti un mirror di tutti i progetti Wikimedia esistenti e una copia di Kiwix disponibile per tutti i sistemi operativi. In questo modo gli studenti nelle scuole potranno imparare anche grazie ai progetti Wikimedia senza necessitare di una connessione internet stabile. Prevediamo di spedire un DVD per scuola (e di fare una selezione tra le scuole che più ne necessitano in caso di troppe richieste). Il contenuto del DVD potrà essere copiato su tutti i computer della scuola senza problemi.

(EN) The solution to this problem is the distribution of DVDs containing a mirror of all existing Wikimedia projects and a copy of Kiwix available for all operating systems. In this way, students in schools will also be able to learn through Wikimedia projects without the need for a stable Internet connection. We plan to send a DVD per school (and to make a selection among the schools that need it most in case of too many requests). The contents of the DVD can be copied to all school computers without any problems.

• Diffusione della conoscenza libera nelle scuole
• Sensibilizzazione ai progetti WMF e alle loro possibilità di utilizzo
• Creazione di nuovi contributori giovani (studenti) ma anche adulti (docenti). Se nella scuola non è presente una connessione sarà presente a casa dei ragazzi o dei docenti in modo che una volta conosciuti i progetti WMF a scuola potrebbero appassionarsi ed iniziare a contribuire attivamente.

• Raising awareness of WMF projects and their use possibilities
• Creation of new young (student) and adult (teachers) WMF projects users. If there isn't connection in the school there will be a connection at the home of the guys or teachers so that once they know the WMF projects at school they may become passionate and start contributing actively.

(IT) Come detto sopra i DVD saranno spediti a delle scuole (prevediamo di spedirne 500, quindi 500 scuole/università). Prevediamo di mantenere un contatto attivo con le scuole e di monitorare l'utilizzo dei contenuti del DVD e gli eventuali progetti collegati ai progetti Wikimedia Foundation che si terranno nelle scuole. Invieremo periodicamente sondaggi per raccogliere informazioni e renderemo i dati (in modo anonimo) pubblici.
L'impatto durerà nel tempo perché prevediamo di creare nuovi contributori attivi che perdureranno nel tempo e continueremo a valutare l'impatto del nostro DVD anche quando la campagna sarà finita.

Do you have any goals around participation or content?

Are any of your goals related to increasing participation within the Wikimedia movement, or increasing/improving the content on Wikimedia projects? If so, we ask that you look through these three metrics, and include any that are relevant to your project. Please set a numeric target against the metrics, if applicable.

Total participants: 500 schools/universities = more than 50.000 students.

Number of newly registered users: If only 1% of that students become an active Wikimedia user there will be 500 newly registered users.

Number of content pages created or improved, across all Wikimedia projects: if only 50% of 500 registered users write a new page o create a new content there will be 250 new contents.

(IT) L'attività principale non sarà solo la preparazione e spedizione dei DVD alle 500 scuole/università selezionate ma consisterà anche nella valutazione delle scuole secondo precisi criteri, che sono:

• Presenza di connessione ad internet;
• presenza di computer;
• utilizzo di software libero e attività passate con progetti Wikimedia;
• altri criteri.

Tutti coloro che svolgeranno queste attività sono volontari e non verranno pagati in alcun modo.

(EN) The main activity will not only be the preparation and delivery of DVDs to the 500 selected schools/universities, but will also consist in the evaluation of schools according to precise criteria, which are as follows:.

• Presence of internet connection;
• presence of computers;
• use of free software and past activities with Wikimedia projects;
• other criteria.

All those who will carry out these activities are volunteers and will not be paid for in any way.

• Actually there is a digital divide between schools having an effective online access and schools without that. The DVD is not the ultimate solution, but it patches and reduce at best (for what concern Wikipedia and free knowledge distribution) this gap.Bramfab (discussioni) 11:24, 15 set 2017 (CEST)
